Country Fair Dachau
This year the Dachau traditional country fair will take place from August 10th to 19th.
Famed for the lowest beer prize of any "Volksfest" in Bavaria, the Dachau country fair offers comfortable Bavarian hospitality. Join the Dindl- and Lederhosn-clad locals for some good-humored "oom-pah" music in one of the decorated beer-tents while enjoying a typical regional meal. Toast your table-neighbours with a "zünftige Maß" (pitcher with 1 liter of beer!) and chances are you will soon pick up some Bavarian German. Attractions and rides make it a fun experience for the whole family.
The spectacular fireworks Thursday evening after sunset (around 9:35 pm) are one of the highlights each year.
There is a biennial (uneven years) children's parade in fairy tale costumes the first Sunday during the Volksfest. The children start at the corner of Augsburger and Brucker streets and walk through the historic old town to the fair grounds.
