The Concentration Camp Memorial Site makes Dachau Europe's central place of learning and remembrance. More than 600,000 people from all over the world come here each year to learn from the lessons of contemporary history.
Blessed with a highly regarded art and cultural scene, the former art colony with a 1,200 year history boasts a wide variety of things to see. Numerous cultural events make Dachau a popular cultural hub north of Munich. It is also the ideal starting point from which to discover the region's charming countryside.
Thanks to an impressive program of cultural events – ranging from the Dachau Palace Concerts to the Dachau Music Summer and the traditional Dachau Folk Festival – Dachau is definitely worth a visit all year round.
